Heaven's Very Special Child

A meeting was held quite far from Earth!
It's time again for another birth.
Said the Angels to the LORD above,
This Special Child will need much love.

His progress may be very slow,
Accomplishments he may not show.
And he'll require extra care
From the folks he meets down there.

He may not run or laugh or play,
His thoughts may seem quite far away,
In many ways he won't adapt,
And he'll be known as handicapped.

So let's be careful where he's sent,
We want his life to be content.
Please LORD, find the parents who
Will do a special job for you.

They will not realize right away
The leading role they're asked to play,
But with this child sent from above
Comes stronger faith and richer love.

And soon they'll know the privilege given
In caring for their gift from Heaven.
Their precious charge, so meek and mild,
Is HEAVEN'S VERY SPECIAL CHILD.

Introduction

Hello Readers,

http://www.sciencenewsden.com/images/hummingbird.jpgThis blog site will be dedicated to the parents of special needs children. I have long looked for a site that I feel is receptive and encouraging for parents like us. My goal for this blog site is to present information to help the newer parents to navigate through the maze and the chaos that comes with being the parent of a child with special needs. I know how intense the feeling of being lost can be and I would like to help ease some of those feelings for others.

I remember how scared I was the day I was told it was time for my son to leave the hospital. I was so afraid that I would not be able to care for him well enough to keep him healthy. Quite frankly I thought he would die under my care. That lead to a lot of sleepless nights until I gained a little confidence in myself. That was 15 years ago. I now KNOW I can take care of my son and I trust my instincts when it comes to his care. I also know that I am the best person to care for him as you are the best to care for your child.

Please take a look around the Prayer Room. I will be adding helpful links as we go along. There is also a section called Community Answers. In this section you may enter a question or an idea that you have and you can also answer questions. Please contribute to this section if you see a topic that you have experienced. With this site I want to present the knowledge we veterans have gained over the years and present it to those who are just now walking the path we have taken. There are things we veterans can learn as well.

If we all pull together and support one another we can thrive in our roles as caregivers for our special children.

Thank you for visiting and please come again!!
